Mary-Alex currently freelances for curators and musicians in and around the Los Angeles area.
A Southern California native, Mary-Alex drew inspiration from her daughter’s first name and one of California’s top commodities to develop the pseudonym Citrus Fruit Snaps. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and was a contributing photographer for the Arts & Entertainment Section of the Daily Sundial while attending California State University, Northridge.
She regularly photographs local and touring musicians at nearly every venue in Los Angeles including the Troubadour, the Whiskey A-Go-Go and the historic Hotel Cafe.
Mary-Alex has most notably photographed: Particle Kid (Micah Nelson), Mike Viola, Brendon Urie (Panic! at the disco), Will Breman (NBC’s the Voice Season 17), Deer Tick, As I Lay Dying, Jimmy Eat World, Dave Grohl, Ray Bull, and Water Tower; to name a few.
She has extensive experience photographing sans flash in lowlight multi-artist intimate spaces like the Americana West Music Festival and Open Folk LA, but also thrives in large scale natural light outdoor festivals including Skip the Record, June Gloom, November Haze and Next Fest.
